The Middle East-Europe Forum


The Middle East-Europe Forum was held on October 19th to October 21st, 2018 at Kish International Convention Center, on Kish Island, bringing together universities, researchers, practitioners and decision makers from different countries to discuss some of the world's important concerns including urban Issues and solutions, water issues, renewable energy, and non-communicable disease (NCDs). The Conference organized by the University of Tehran in collaboration with Kish Free Zone Organization and four other major Iranian universities, Sharif University of Technology, Amirkabir University of Technology, Tehran University of Medical Sciences and the Iran University of Medical Sciences.
The President of the University of Tehran, Head of Kish Free Trade ZoneOrganizations, President of Iran University of Medical Sciences and the Head of Scientific Committee were the keynote speakers. The plenary and parallel sessions were held during the forum to discuss the cross-cutting aspects of smart city/nature-based solutions in urban development, addressing issues of sustainable development; innovation, start-ups, commercialization and funding issues (with Chamber of Commerce, VC Association, Knowledge-based companies association, etc., and counterparts in other countries); the strategic issues surrounding collaboration, and to work out point initiatives to facilitate, enable and support concrete bi-regional collaboration in research and collaboration addressing key issues of sustainable development; water issues; renewable energy issues and non-communicable disease.
During the Forum, attendees, participants and presenters shared their experiences and expertise with other participants and discussed the ways for overcoming barrier and realizing mutual benefits from collaboration in aspects of research, innovation and education of high shared importance.
